So... Oops Aug

So...

Sights to see

Parked in the car park, there by the bus stop,

At the beach they forever show up,

Dirty, deserted, disposable diapers.

Will the babies ever grow up?

O Waimanalo Fans

Do true words in this jesting talk

Of future development plans?

Country life, to be or not to be

Beware the political clown

To cut down the forest they start with one tree

The circus is coming to town.

The Bicycle Thief

Since moving to live with my mom and brothers in Waimanalo, a total of four of our bikes were stolen. I just moved here in October `94 and I love Waimanalo! But this kind of inconveniences are slowly making an ugly impression of this town in my heart.

The first two bikes were my little brother's bikes. They suspected who was the thief, bat by the time they figured out where this boy lived he had already stripped both bikes, along with a couple of others, and painted `his' new one.

The most recent was my six year old daughter's bike. At first her back tire was stolen from the bike while she was playing at a friends house. The boy (we'll call him "Cuz", started bragging to kids in the neighborhood about the tire he just "ripped" from a little girl's bike. Not knowing one of the kids he was bragging to was my brother--the little girl's uncle. We went to his house, got the tire back again and told "Cuz" not to touch that bike again. After school on Monday afternoon, my daughter went to get her bike at the bike rack and her back tire was gone! She came home, told us what happened. We went back to WEIS only to find that the entire bike was gone! On this particular Monday--June 26, it was my daughter's sixth birthday.

We suspected "Cuz" but didn't really have nothing to go on. We called Mr. Naumu at WEIS but that was a dead-end. Then that Wednesday, "Cuz" was walking around the neighborhood looking for his wrench he left at the school on Monday! "Cuz" doesn't even go to Summer School. We are in the process of finding out his story.

To anyone who is thinking of stealing other kids bikes--make sure It's not any one of my family members, `cause to see my daughter so sad now, breaks my heart--I think I'd do something really stupid and people like that just aren't worth the time I'd spend in jail for hurting them!

A Waimanalo Villager

Trash

This morning while I as driving down Hihimanu Street--on the back road--I saw a gentleman in a white truck dump four bags of trash just off the side of the road, and I'd like to put his license number in the paper because I don't think that's showing his aloha for the community. His license number is EGV 989.

Not to end this on a negative note, the gals at the Waimanalo Health Center helped me find your number because I couldn't find my paper. At least there are some people in the community who show their aloha!

On Board

Last month's Waimanalo Beat article on the Neighborhood Board proceedings failed to mention new board member Steven Tayama as among those board members present at the meeting.
