Public Input:

Honolulu Fire Department: Captain Job Harris reported 9 emergencies and 4 fire calls in November. The December safety tip is "Have a safe and cheerful holiday season,"

Honolulu Police Department: Officer Brian Tong reported 16 burglaries, 51 thefts from autos, 10 other thefts, 5 auto thefts. Tong commented that HPD is working on the auto theft problem. He also warned about purse snatching at shopping centers.

A Neighborhood Security Watch meeting to combat the thefts in the farm lots is set for December 21, 6:30 pm at Glenn's Nursery.

Representative Eve Anderson: Reported on the following: Anderson met with prison and governor's staff regarding medical treatment of Michael Pang. Fisherman are concerned with Federal proposal to designate Hawaii waters as whale habitat. Unisyn is required to file for additional permits.

Councilman John Henry Felix: Isa Tai reported the meeting to discuss the City's and Bishop Estate negotiated settlement will be settled once a consent decree is filed.

The first meeting of the Domestic Violence Teen Intervention Task Force will be Jan. 25, 3:30 pm, at City Hall.

Unfinished Business:

Unisyn Biowaste Technology: Resident Vinny Fukunaga recommended the money from the consent decree be entrusted to her. Chair Field noted the money has not been earmarked and directed Fukunaga to the Dept. of health.

First Tongan Methodist Church Site Plan Review Application: Chair Field recapped the board's meetings to resolve the concerns of Flamingo Street residents. Proposed solutions include forming a Flamingo Street Club, special duty police officer at special events, posted notices of events, on-street parking limited to property owners and time limits for noise. Kama moved, Elsworth seconded that the Board support the Site Plan Review for the First Tongan United Methodist Church. The motion failed 6-1-1.

Kama moved and Elsworth seconded that the Board support the agreement that was reached between the Flamingo Street residents and the First Tongan Church, and that the agreement be sent to the Dept. of Land Utilization. The motion failed 5-3.

New Business:

'Oleo: Oahu Speaks: Lewis moved and Kama seconded that the Board utilize Oahu Speaks segment and that the Board send a representative to attend a workshop and to appear on the program. Motion carried 8-0.

Request for a Zoning Variance for Olomana Golf Course: Rodney Funakoshi of Wilson Okamoto and Associates and Peter Yamashita, General Manager of Olomana Golf Links requested variance to allow 50' poles with lights to facilitate golf until 10 pm. Residents expressed concern over visibility of the lights. Elsworth moved and Gooding seconded that the Board support the variance request. The motion failed 6-1-1.
