"My name is Krista Blake. I'm 19... I've never touched drugs. And guess what? My old boyfriend has HIV, and so do I."

Over the last decade, AIDS has become a worldwide epidemic. To date more than 1,000 people have died in Hawai'i of AIDS. Currently, there are an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 people in Hawai'i infected with HIV.

"What About AIDS?" at the Bishop Museum is a national traveling exhibition about the science of HIV and AIDS. The exhibit presents clear and accurate information for individuals and families. The exhibit teaches about AIDS and HIV and how to avoid it by using hands-on devices, interactive computers and video programs, and compelling personal stories. A section of the exhibit tells about the research that is going on to find treatment. In perhaps the most moving section you read and hear first hand testimonies of people who have died and others still living with HIV and AIDS.

"Seeing this exhibit with my daughter makes discussion more natural," said one mother who had just visited the exhibit with her teenage daughter.
